HVTC is a Group Training Organisation (GTO)

We employ apprentices and trainees and place them with Host Employers under an agreement that helps develop on-the-job skills needed for their vocation.
A GTO can rotate an apprentice or trainee to another business if work at the current organisation ends or vocational competencies are not able to be delivered. HVTC remains the legal employer of the apprentice or trainee for the duration of their contract. We’re also responsible for managing all associated employment records and conditions including payroll, superannuation and workers’ compensation.

Why employ an apprentice or trainee?

Employing an apprentice or trainee is a smart and affordable way to manage your workforce needs, boost your business and help develop skills. It’s a simple process that can be easily arranged and managed through us.

About apprenticeships and traineeships

An apprenticeship or traineeship covers full-time or part-time employment that combines work placement and structured training.

Apprenticeships last three to four years and are generally offered in the traditional trade industries such as building and construction, metals and engineering, electrotechnology to name just a few. Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, training is undertaken at an approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Traineeships usually last one to two years and include a range of occupations, including business administration, IT, customer engagement, human resources, retail, hospitality and many more.

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships allow young people to begin their qualifications for many trades and occupations whilst they are still at school completing their HSC.

Psychometric screening

During the recruitment stage candidates are given psychological assessments to assess if they are suitable for their intended work environment, especially their safety disposition.
Our psychometric testing utilises the Health & Safety Indicator (HSI), a combination of targeted personality measures which help identify health and safety risk factors.
This specialised testing can be delivered as a pre-employment service or as a safety initiative for existing workers and can also be undertaken online.

HVTC is authorised to deliver the GeneSys Health and Safety Indicator assessment through our partnership with OPRA Consulting. This assesses the prevalence of emotionally intelligent workplace behaviours and enables effective people management by providing the individual and their supervisor with an insight into their cognitive ability and tendency towards safe work behaviours.
