Become an Apprentice or Trainee
Apprentices and trainees are employed through a formal process of job advertisements, interviews and assessments. They are then placed with host businesses for an agreed period.
HVTC has a large number of employers ranging from small and medium sized to large businesses, all who want to hire apprentices and trainees and are willing to help train them.
HVTC will handle all the paperwork and records for our apprentices and trainees and manage the payroll function as well as all other statutory employment obligations.

We aim to recruit our quality apprentices and trainees through a fair and equitable process. When positions become available they are advertised under the Vacancies section of our website.
Applicants are able to create a profile and register interest in roles at HVTC. An email alert function can be created in the Candidate Profile to receive notification of new vacancies added in the trade and location specified as they are advertised.
Each vacancy advertisement will detail the specific application instructions. In all instances applicants are required to complete the online questions in order to be considered for the role.
Applicants must also provide a cover letter addressing the specific selection criteria in the job advertisement, with a current resume outlining skills, qualifications and employment history.
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive acknowledgement of your application by automated response email.
Once the vacancy advertisement has closed, the recruitment process may include (in any order) the following steps:
- Shortlisting
- Phone interviews
- Psychometric assessment
- Pre-employment medical assessment
- Group assessments
- Formal behavioural interviews
- Background checks e.g: Working with Children and Police checks
- Referee checks
- Second round/host employer interviews
- Offer of employment
Unsuccessful applicants will be formally notified via email or phone.
