HVTC has worked with BlueScope since 1998 to produce quality apprentices and trainees across a variety of disciplines, predominantly electrical, engineering mechanical and refractory bricklaying.
Named HVTC's Overall Host Employer of the Year in 2020 and Host Employer Safety Award winner in 2022, BlueScope remains one of the largest employers in Illawarra. There are currently 105 apprentices working across BlueScope’s Wollongong and Port Kembla operations, 35 of which commenced this year, showcasing the organisation’s forward-thinking approach in training and skilling their future workforce. BlueScope are also a strong supporter of workplace diversity, with women making up more than 40% of its apprentice cohort.
During your apprenticeship you will undertake a Certificate III qualification over 4 years through hands-on practical experience while hosted to BlueScope, in addition to off-the-job training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). In the workplace you'll work alongside experienced and skilled tradespeople, learning from some of the best in the business. You'll also be rotated between different departments, allowing you to gain a broad range of skills and experience while getting a taste for all BlueScope has to offer.
